Product Description
Chamaecyparis thyoides ‘Little Jamie’
LEAF COLOR: Gray-green in summer; purplish brown in winter.
LEAF DESCRIPTION: AWL-LIKE, 1/8 long (or less), sharp, pointed, older leaves
in spreading points, young leaves tightly pressed in pairs.
FLOWER DESCRIPTION: Monoecious; male yellowish, female green. NOT
SHOWY and NOT ORNAMENTAL.
EXPOSURE/CULTURE: Full sun. Does best in moist, sandy soils similar to the
species in its native habitat—a lowland, bog plant. No pruning needed to maintain
shape.
PEST PROBLEMS: No serious pests.
BARK/STEMS: Bark medium gray to rich brown with irregular fissures.
RELATED CULTIVARS: ‘Andelyensis’ - Similar to ‘Little Jamie’, but a little faster
growing with abundant cones.
LANDSCAPE NOTES: ‘Little Jamie’ is a plant with interesting foliage and shape.
Because of its slow growth, it is probably best as an accent plant in borders or planting
beds in full sun. This is a plant for avid gardeners.
